The Community of Nazareth

A monastic heart in the midst of the world

The Community of Nazareth is a dispersed Anglican monastic community, shaped by prayer, simplicity, stability of heart, and faithful presence in ordinary life.

Rooted in the hidden life of Jesus at Nazareth, inspired by the Benedictine tradition, and grounded in the Anglican inheritance of common prayer and sacramental life, we seek Christ not by flight from the world, but by remaining faithfully within it.

We live and work in parishes, professions, families, and communities. Bound together by a shared Rule and a common rhythm of prayer, we commit ourselves to a life of gentle fidelity — ordinary faithfulness offered day by day, for the life of the world.

Life at Nazareth

Nazareth is not a place of spectacle or achievement. It is the place of quiet growth, daily work, prayer, and love lived without recognition.

The Community of Nazareth exists to support those who are drawn to this way of life: a life marked by prayer rather than productivity, stability rather than restlessness, and perseverance rather than intensity. We understand this as a monastic heart without a cloister — a shared life of discipleship lived in dispersed circumstances.

A Shared Way of Life

Our common life is shaped by:

  • the Daily Office and Holy Communion

  • simplicity and integrity of life

  • silence and attentiveness to God

  • mutual care and discernment

  • stability of heart and joyful perseverance

We do not seek perfection or uniformity. We seek faithfulness, lived gently and sustained together.
