Prayer and Spirituality

The Community of Nazareth is a dispersed Anglican religious community, living a shared monastic Rule while remaining fully engaged in ordinary life.

We draw our inspiration from the hidden life of Jesus at Nazareth — a life marked not by public ministry or recognition, but by prayer, work, faithfulness, and love lived quietly in place. Shaped by the Benedictine tradition and grounded in the Anglican inheritance of common prayer and sacramental life, we seek Christ through gentle fidelity rather than withdrawal from the world.

Our members live in parishes, professions, families, and communities. We do not live together under one roof, but we are bound together by a shared Rule, a common rhythm of prayer, and a commitment to discernment and mutual care. We understand this as a monastic heart without a cloister: stability of spirit lived in dispersed circumstances.

The Community of Nazareth exists to support a way of Christian discipleship shaped by:

  • prayer rooted in the Daily Office and Holy Communion

  • simplicity and integrity of life

  • stability of heart and faithful presence

  • perseverance rather than intensity

We are ordinary people seeking to live faithfully where we are, trusting that Christ is made visible not through extraordinary practices, but through ordinary love offered day by day.
