Ways to Pray with Us

Pray the Daily Office

The Community of Nazareth is a dispersed community. We do not gather daily in one place, but we are held together by shared prayer, faithful presence, and attentiveness to God in ordinary life. You do not need to be a member of the Community to pray with us. You are welcome to join us wherever you are, and in whatever way is possible.

At the heart of our common life is the Daily Office. When you pray Morning Prayer, Midday Prayer, Evening Prayer, or Compline — whether regularly or occasionally — you are praying in the same rhythm that sustains our community. You may use the Book of Common Prayer (1979) of the Episcopal Church, or another Anglican form familiar to you. Some pray the full Office. Others offer a psalm, a canticle, or a short collect. All of this is received as prayer. Fidelity matters more than completeness.

Join Us in Eucharistic Prayer

Members of the Community are anchored in Holy Communion, received in their local parishes and chapels. If you share in the Eucharist in your own context, you share in the prayer that nourishes our common life. Wherever the Eucharist is celebrated faithfully, Christ gathers his people into one body.

At times, the Community designates a shared hour of prayer — a simple commitment to pause, remember one another, and turn toward God. You are welcome to join this shared hour wherever you are, offering silence, intercession, or a short prayer. Some light a candle. Some sit quietly. Some pray the Lord’s Prayer and rest. This is not about synchronisation or intensity, but about communion.

Sit in Silence

Silence is a form of prayer we treasure. You may pray with us simply by sitting in silence — for a minute, or longer — trusting that God is present and attentive. Silence is not withdrawal from the world, but a way of receiving it more gently. Even brief silence is faithful.

Pray Our Community Prayer

You are warmly invited to pray Our Community Prayer, whether once, often, or occasionally. Some keep it as a daily prayer; others return to it in times of discernment or weariness. Praying these words places you intentionally within the spirit of Nazareth: hidden, faithful, and rooted in love.

Hold Us in Prayer

You may also pray for the Community. Members live dispersed lives — in parishes, families, workplaces, and places of quiet service. Your prayers for perseverance, gentleness, and fidelity are part of our shared life, even if we never meet.

You do not need to pray in all these ways.
You do not need to pray perfectly.
You are invited simply to pray faithfully, honestly, and gently.

In this, we trust that Christ is already at work — hidden with us, and for the life of the world.

Praying with the Wider Church

Members of the Community of Nazareth remain rooted in parish life.

Regular services from the Black Isle Charge, where our Prior serves as Rector, are livestreamed and available to join online. These services reflect the ordinary, faithful rhythm of Anglican worship that sustains our common life.

Prayer in Words and Reflection

Alongside shared liturgical prayer, members of the Community also write and reflect on the life of prayer as it is lived in ordinary circumstances.

You can read theological reflection, poetry, and contemplative writing by our Novice Director from within the life of the Community on Substack.
